We had a great time taking part in The Big Lunch, the UK’s annual get-together for communities across the nation.

On the Big Lunch Weekend, we met over 50 of our residents, staff and trustees in the park for an afternoon of conversations, picnics and games.

We were also pleased to welcome Lindsey, Dan and Peter from the Big Lunch team, who delivered us a certificate and a lovely hamper to support our Big Lunch, which had cakes, biscuits and more which were shared by our community.  We were so grateful to receive £500 to support our future community events as part of the prize, which will help to improve and include even more people in our events. Thanks to the team who came along and got involved in the whole day!

Everyone had a fantastic time, and got competitive over a game of ‘Kubb’, a swedish lawn game, where you knock over wooden blocks by throwing wooden batons. Our residents had such a fantastic time that they took it home to play later that afternoon!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Big Lunch, and are grateful to the Big Lunch Team for encouraging people to take part in this annual get-together- we hope to see you at next year’s lunch!

We asked our residents what their favourite part was:

“Meeting new people having chat. Watching games”

“The game we were playing was fun, was a nice afternoon out”

“Great company, food + drink supplied. Good to talk and meet new people and games were brilliant”

“Meeting new people playing "abue"”

“The laughter!”

“Play the stick game. Meeting new people”

“The games promoted team building with fun and laughter. Thank you”
