The Vocational Development team concentrate solely on helping participants in the programme take steps towards employment through a holistic approach, providing opportunities with training providers and employers around Cornwall. This unique programme is shaped by the needs and interests of each participant, and provides support as long as each individual needs it, even beyond their time living in St Petrocs accommodation.
So far activities have included teaching skills in bike maintenance and providing PPE for sessions in welding, through to confidence-building team activities such as rock climbing and 5-aside football.
As the programme grows, it will play an important role in helping participants progress towards sustained, independent living by supporting them to access experiences, training, and opportunities that will enhance their employability and build their confidence to enter or re-enter the workplace.
The Vocational Development Programme is a provider for The People Hub project. The People Hub project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
