Today marks 38 years of commitment to supporting people experiencing homelessness. We're celebrating the incredible impact of the past year and the resilience of our clients who inspire us daily.

As we reflect on our journey, we're mindful of the challenges ahead. Last year's 38% increase in people sleeping outside underscores the urgency of our mission. With your support, in 2023 we worked with 695 people who were sleeping rough, a testament to your empathy and solidarity.

A message from our Chief Executive, Henry Meacock

"St Petrocs is rooted in community action. I would like to pay tribute to the early pioneers, all those years ago who took the brave step and overcame many barriers to establish what was then, The St Petroc’s Society.

Because of their actions, many thousands of people have been given opportunities that they might not otherwise have had.  Since then, over the years, many hundreds of others have joined us at St Petrocs and are supporting our cause.  Collectively, we demonstrate the power of collaboration, determination and compassion. The values that were embedded in the organisation all those years ago are still our guiding principles.  As we mark our anniversary, we can look to the future with optimism that through collective effort and action, we will end homelessness in Cornwall."

A history of St Petrocs

St Petrocs was established in direct response to people sleeping rough in Truro. Local church leaders would often care for people experiencing homelessness in their own homes or on church premises, and from this came the idea of St Petrocs. On 16th April 1986, St Petrocs was created to ensure that everyone had a safe place to call home. After overcoming several challenges, we were able to open our first house in Truro, in 1987.

Since then, St Petrocs has continued to work with people experiencing homelessness, thanks to the support of decades of willing trustees, dedicated staff and generous supporters. We are now a team of over 100 staff and volunteers, with 24 houses accommodating 165 people throughout Cornwall.
