An important goal of the winter services is to provide shelter for people experiencing homelessness to ensure nobody is left outside alone over the coldest months of the year. Once engaged with the winter services, we endeavour to work with clients through our resettlement service to find more permanent accommodation.
St Petrocs has operated an emergency accommodation service over the winter months since 2007. This service is now provided on a dispersed basis, utilising guesthouses and hotels across the county.
Cornwall is large and rural in nature. Support networks are often localised to small areas. We support the retention of local connections and have developed good working relationships with several hotel proprietors across the county so that we can offer emergency accommodation where it is needed and not concentrated in any one area.

The route to homelessness is not linear and often a number of factors push people in this direction, but homelessness is rarely the final destination on someone's journey. Every individual has a different story and they are often complex.
