Sue Wilkins is currently the Samaritans Regional Director for the South West, providing strategic oversight of services delivered by over 1,400 volunteers, alongside her continued role as a Samaritans Listening Volunteer. This has given her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing distress, and the importance of accessible, non-judgemental support.

Sue previously held Director-level roles within the NHS, working across Women’s and Children’s Services, where she led large-scale acute services at University Hospitals Plymouth and was responsible for governance, quality and organisational performance, and as the Director of Mass Vaccination, Flu and Testing leading on the response to the pandemic across South West Devon and South East Cornwall.

Throughout her career, Sue has worked closely with vulnerable and marginalised groups and recognises the strong link between homelessness, mental health and crisis. She is particularly committed to supporting organisations that provide practical help alongside human connection; values she sees clearly reflected in the work of St Petrocs.
