We had a really great few days last week getting out and talking to so many supporters - old and new - at the Royal Cornwall Show!

The Royal Cornwall Show has been a great opportunity to raise awareness of homelessness in Cornwall and the work of St Petrocs for many years, and this time our team met over 500 people on our stand and across the Showground over the three days. Thank you to so many of you who came to say hello and find out more about our work.

This year, our message this year was how we work to end our client’s homelessness for good. Mike, leads stone carving workshops with our clients as part of our Vocational Development Programme. Mike was on the stand every day displaying a totem pole he had made with residents over recent weeks during engagement workshops.

Mike is passionate about using creativity and practical skills for engagement and improved wellbeing, Mike said, 'My understanding of the therapeutic side of this kind of activity is that when clients are engaging the right-hand ‘creative’ side of the brain it relaxes us, a kind of active meditation, and the lowered anxiety levels allowed candid conversations to flow which leads to some great support work.'

His stone carving workshops were very popular with lots of people who stopped by our stand to have a go, and take away their own carving.

We're already planning next year's event and hoping the dry weather holds for a third year.
