We welcome Reverend Loraine Mellor, Chair of the Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Methodist District, as a new Vice President for St Petrocs.

St Petrocs benefits from support from many religious and community groups across Cornwall and it is traditional for the Chair of the District to hold the role of Vice President following longstanding links with the Methodist Church since St Petrocs’ began in 1986.

Revd Mellor is motivated by the need for a fairer society and justice for all and is very much looking forward to her role in supporting St Petrocs. She said “I see the vital work you do as essential in today's financial climate when so many are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, fuel poverty and in the county of Cornwall where so many are struggling to find homes. The work of St Petrocs accords with my deep desire to see all children of God loved and cared for and have a place to call home.”

Revd Mellor has served as various leadership roles within the Methodist Church, including as President of the Methodist Conference from 2017 to 2018. Before her ordination in 1995 she worked in the NHS as a nurse for 24 years.

Revd Mellor joins Steve Ellis (previous Chief Executive of St Petrocs) Geoff Tate (Chair of the Board of St Petrocs 2008 to 2020), The Rt Revd Mark O'Toole (Archbishop of Cardiff and Bishop of Menevia), Revd Michael Palmer MBE and Lord Matthew Taylor who also hold the roles of Vice President.
