On 7^th March, St Petrocs’ Mike and Abigail, who are now qualified volunteer community rangers, organised a walk on the coast, along the Camel Estuary at Padstow for our clients and the wider community. The event enabled our walkers to make meaningful connections with each other and even included rare sightings of seals and sunshine! It was great to see so many people attend, with 21 walkers and 6 dogs to keep us company.

Our Coast Path Connector walks are a great opportunity to promote physical and mental wellbeing whilst also fostering a sense of community and camaraderie amongst the walkers. We are pleased to be a part of this project, which aims to improve equity of access to the South West Coast Path, by making these walks accessible to everyone.

During the walk, one of our clients, shared valuable insights about the local area, drawing from their experiences of homelessness and exploring the surroundings on foot. They expressed their enjoyment of the day and meeting new people, eagerly looking forward to future events. Additionally, we were excited to learn that another client, a keen photographer, was able to capture the day using their photography skills.

We have been sharing updates on our volunteer community rangers, Abi and Mike, who have been supported by the Coast Path Connectors project. This project has allowed us to provide our vocational development clients with fully insured, guided walks across the South West Coast Path to ensure everyone gets the chance to access the sights of Cornwall.
