Mawnan WI are brilliant supporters of ours and have, over the years, held some great events raising funds for St Petrocs and we are incredibly grateful that they have supported us again this year. It sounded like a wonderful day of events, using creativity to make it suitable for the current social distancing circumstances.

Despite some torrential showers and blustery winds, there was a real sense of community on Sunday gone as residents and Mawnan WI members went out and about taking a Sunday afternoon walk and visiting up to six garages around the village. These were open for an outdoor charity fund raising event: “Away in a ….Garage”! The owners of each garage had decorated them with lights and played Christmas music to create a festive atmosphere. Mulled wine, mince pies and cakes, books, scarves, decorations, pottery, jams and chutneys were available along with two great tombola’s and raffles for a hamper and a beautifully decorated Christmas cake.

A stunning £1,130 was raised for St Petrocs – a very big thank you to everyone who supported this event and for the generous donations which we received.

We are so grateful for this community support and these funds will help us continue to work with those experiencing homelessness this winter.
